Inspiration for The New Year

December 30, 2018

2019 is sneaking up around the corner so here are some writing goals for you:

1.There are 365 days in the year, a page a day or every other day can become a full-blown first draft of a book! This is especially great for those of you who have full-time occupations other than writing. Staring at a blank page or "tabula rasa" is a promising start. You may want to refer to my blog entry on sentence starters .

Sometimes, even doodling helps!

2.Those of you who already have started writing, use these 365 days as your opportunity to reach the finishing line. You may want to read my blog entry on editing for guidance.

3.Those of you who have completed a book: a few drafts, edited and polished, create an excel file with a list, website and contact details for literary agents who are looking to represent books, stories, poems in your particular genre of writing. Then, you can use my last blog entry on writing a query letter to literary agents as a guide. If you feel self-publishing or an independent publisher is your specific path, then go for it!

HAPPY NEW YEAR and HAPPY WRITING.
